Introduction to OER

This self-paced and self-guided course will require about four hours of your time. This course provides a solid introduction to open educational resources (OER) and to #GoOpenVA, Virginia’s platform for sharing these resources. You will be introduced to the #GoOpenVA website and how to use it to find and share OER.

Outreach with Virtual Virginia

Want to learn more about how to implement the K–12 VVA Outreach Program resources with your students in a blended or fully online environment? Enroll in this free, four-week online workshop. Led by the VVA Outreach Program Facilitators, this workshop will guide teachers through best practices in blended delivery, content customization using Canvas tools, and creating resources to share in a common forum. Upon completion of the workshop, each teacher will receive a certificate for 20 hours to use towards recertification.

Teaching Online with Virtual Virginia

Next Course: November 16 through December 11, 2020

Registration opens in VVA Professional Learning Portal on Thursday, October 1, at 8 a.m.

This three-week course is recommended for teachers certified in middle and high school content areas who are interested in pursuing teaching online as part of the Virtual Virginia faculty. Course content explores online teaching methods, reviews National Standards for Quality Online Teachers, and provides practical experience with LMS tools. Successful course completion is required of all new VVA hires. While completion of the course is not a guarantee of employment, each participant who successfully completes the course will receive a certificate for 18 hours to use towards recertification.
